In the traditional Nested Light-Weight Steel Joist System, the walls rely on thesome slab coverings (like the OSB) on the light steel frame to resist the lateral force. Inorder to make sure that the covering will not lose the capability of resisting lateraldeformation because of damp or moisture, the covering need to be processed withmoisture proof. In the meantime, there are also fire proof layer and decoration layer,which make the construction procedure complicated and the unit cost relatively high forthe light steel structure system. This will definitely impede the expansion of theutilization of the Nested Light-Weight Steel Joist System. The composite wall with slabstrips and diagonal bracings is one kind of alternative structure systems with nocoverings, which rely on themselves to resist the lateral force and are suitable for thehouses and villas. And this kind of wall will simplify the construction procedure andlower the cost and make it easy to expand the utilization.The composite wall with slab strips and diagonal bracings is one kind of new wallpatterns, and there is no experimental research about the capability of resisting lateraldeformation of the wall in our country. We need to do research on this new system, inorder to get information about the lateral performance of the wall under horizontal load,like the mechanical characteristics, deformation characteristics, and the failure mode.In this paper, lateral performance metrics of the four full-scale specimen ofcomposite wall with slab strips and diagonal bracings, like the magnitude of yield load,maximum load, ultimate load and the ductility factors, energy dissipation of the walls,are studied in the low cycle and reverse horizontal loading tests with constant verticalloading. On the basis of experiments and the simplified model of semi-rigid joint, FEModel is established with SAP2000, and non-linear static analysis of the walls is carriedout. The accuracy of the model is verified.With the results of the experiments and analysis, conclusions of this paper aredrawn below:1、The capability of resisting lateral deformation of Nested light-steel wall framewith no covering and diagonal bracing is very low, which makes it impossible for thewall frame to be the structural shear wall.2、Shear strength and shear stiffness of the wall are enhanced immensely by thediagonal bracings and OSB strips. And the diagonal bracing is more effective, while theOSB strip mainly works after the nominal yield. 3、The ability of energy dissipation of the wall is enhanced immensely by thediagonal bracings and OSB strips, and OSB strips significantly improve the ductility ofthe wall.4、For the similar wall structure system, the trussing model of SAP2000which isbased on the the simplified model of semi-rigid joint can reveal the lateral performanceof these kind of walls very well.
