Balise which is based on the principle of the electromagnetic coupling is the key devices of China Train Control System (CTCS). It’s used to transmit data of positioning information、circuit parameters and speed limit temporarily to on-board equipment. The research on Balise system in China is late, and the domestic balise hasn’t yet widely accepted. With the putting forward of test specifications of balise, we also need to build up our own test platform, provide essential foundation test environment for the research of key technology and the products compatibility test and the authentication of balise.The development of the Reference Signal Generator (RSG) is important because it is the main test tool in the Balise Analysis and Test Platform. Besides, it is urgent at present to test the receiving capability of on-board antenna as the train passes the balise at a high speed. Based on the issue above, an Reference Signal Generator was put forward after detailed theory research.Follows are the work that has been done:1. The paper briefly introduced the working principle of balise, the structure of the Balise Analysis and Test Platform and its present development situation. Describes the necessary and importantly of development of RSG.2. According to the description of RSG by the test standard, do the requirement analysis of RSG system. Do research about the amplitude of the up-link signal received by the on-board antenna when the train travels through a balise. Do analyze the rationality of the trapezoid envelope of energy signal and the correctness of the eye chart of interface ’C1’ signal.3. According to the system requirement analysis, do the overall design of the system, choose appropriate hardware equipment, and construct the signal generator system.4. According to the system requirement analysis, puts forward the specific generating scheme of each signal. Load real amplitude envelope for the up-link signal, load trapezoid envelope for the tele-powering signal. Insert time jitter, amplitude jitter, harmonic signal characteristics, etc.5. The author develops the RSG system by Labwindows/CVI software development tools, and realizes the function of system. 6. The author study the use and remote control method of the AWG5002B arbitrary waveform generator produced by Tektronix, realization the remote operation of the arbitrary waveform generator including attribute to set, equipment initialization, data writing, parameter setting, output and stop output, etc.7. At last, the author trial and verified the design of system. According to different signal, design the different verification scheme, verified the correctness of the system function.
