In recent years, with the development of high-rise steel structures and the need of installation of pipes and equipment requirement, girders with webs openings are increasingly used in People’s Daily life. Also, they are getting more and more attention of researchers and design personnel. At present, the domestic research on this component is deficient. The design specification, only in the China Code (JGJ99 - to 98) of Technical Specification for Steel Structure of Tall Buildings does some provisions, but no guide can be used for design in China, especially for large scale webs designings, the researches are much rarer. In a certain degree, opening beam-rolling application in engineering is affacted.This paper selects the girders of large scale rectangular designing perforation, using powerful finite element software ANSYS software to numerical simulation, to see the problems under static loading in its stress distribution, failure mode and bearing capacity. Then, classical beam theory and Vierendeel truss theory are performed as well as the finite element analysis to verify the above theory in the applicable conditions designings. Also observed the opening section place obvious bending- shear relevance in the girders with circular webs openings , the large scale rectangular designings whether have the same performance or not. Through analysis, we found that large scale rectangular openings of girder stress distribution, force mechanism is not fully comply with the traditional theory. Open-web truss theory on fasting section is reliable, but in a certain length beside the opening edge,the stress distribution of the unperforated cross sections is different. Another, the bending- shear correlation showed in the girders with circular webs openings don’t occur in the girders large scale rectangular designing perforation again.Finally, in view of the stress concentration in the four corners of the orifice and the characteristics of heading into submission,this paper gives some suggestions for reinforcement.
