Study On The Construction Of Low Carbon Cities

Nowadays global warming has become a major threat to the survival and development of human beings: resource depletion, environmental pollution, ecological imbalance and so on. The ecological environmental problem in China is not only impeding the economic development but also having serious harm to people’s health. In order to restore the ecological balance, to curb climate disasters, it is significantly important to figure out a way to reduce the emission and to save the energy.In 2008, Baoding, Hebei Provence has been selected as one of the first pilot city for“China’s low carbon city development project" by world natural foundation. Baoding city is now under the development of low carbon city. However, there are many issues and challenges during the development. The research object of this paper is based on this scenario. Theory of low carbon city constructions will be used to analysis the feasibility of adoption the experience of constructions of low carbon city aboard. International typical low carbon city mode will be summarized, so that an optimized approach could be suggested to the development of the low carbon city in Baoding. There are three approaches on the research of the optimized path and these are sphere, technology and society.The main paths of research on sphere include: transportation, land use, spatial structure optimization. The paths of research on technology include: the development and utilization of new energy, renewable energy development, the low carbon industry, traditional industry mode change, low carbon building and low carbon transport development. The paths of research on society include: policy support, public participation, low carbon life.Last but not least, an example of the low carbon development advanced experience will be share. An actual project named“Qinhuangdao city Shanhaiguan water village village construction and Shanhaiguan green road construction project”, is under construction currently.Low carbon is environmentally friendly, energy friendly, simple, green, and healthy. The development of low carbon economy and low carbon city development, construction of system, is the way towards sustainable development of a city.
