Covered type of sheet pile wharf was first putforward in 2002.it belongs to a new type ofsheet pile wharf structure which characteristic is a row of spaced concrete piles behind frontwall of tradition sheet pile wharf within the scope of 3~5m . Dued to the addition of coveredpiles ,earth and displacement of the front wall are greatly reduced.In the premise ofunchanged the front wall thickness ,it inceased harbor basin excacation depth.This kind ofnew structure produces changes present situation of sheet pile whalf is only suitable formedium-sized、small wharf.But the addition of covered piles also make force characteristic ofwharf more complex,this increased the degree of difficulty in the design and constcuction.Atpresent the covered type of sheet pile wharf calculation method mainly have prototypeobservation,geotechnical centrifugal model test and finite element analysis.This paper combines the covered type of sheet pile wharf’s bird background and researchsituation, taking Caofeidian100000t universal bulk wharf parameters as an example, based onthe ABAQUS of covered type of sheet pile wharf for the two-dimensional andthree-dimensional finite element calculation, obtained the following results:Two dimensional model simulated front wall, rod, covered of piles, soil. It study theinfluence of soil arching on soil parameters , In the different cohesion and friction angle ofsimulation, the results show that the both have different effects on soil arching, cohesive soilis easier to form soil arching than non cohesive soil. And for cohesive soil ,cohesion is bigger,soil arching easier to play, but increases to a certain value the soil arching effect almost nodifference; Friction angle effect is actually the pile-soil friction coefficient, the coefficient isbigger ,the soil arching is easier to play.In the space finite element analysis, it once again inspects sheltering effect of coveredpiles, then some optimization analysis are researched for the covered type of sheet pilewharf,including the pile length, pile spacing, wall-pile spacing,stiffness . Analyze the effactof stress deformation of front wall and covered piles on land sides , obtained the followingresults:(1) Analysis sheltering effect of covered piles, the results show that the covered type of sheet pile wharf has more advantages than the traditional sheet pile wharf.(2) The covered pile length is larger than length of the front wall 2~3m for advisable.(3) In the practical engineering, the comprehensive consideration convenientconstruction and wharf structure layout reasonable principle ,try to make covered pile close tothe front wall.(4) For the front wall , the smaller piles spacing is,the smaller its deformation is, but forcovered piles,its deformation is very complex in the effect of soil arch, the proposal in thedesign of selecting proper effective piles spacing are raised that the corresponding finiteelement model calculation or centrifugal model test is necessary, and based on theconstruction and various aspects in the practical engineering.(5) Flexural stiffness of covered piles for deformation of the front wall and covered pileshas a great influence, analysis shows that the greater the bending stiffness, the smaller thefront wall deformation, but the changes of lateral soil pressure of the covered piles is quitecomplex, so comprehensive consideration of the front wall deformation、soil pressure of thecovered piles and sectional area minimum principle, 1×2 m (bending) is better.
