With the development of diversification on railway passenger transportation demand and supply, the matching problem between passengers and trains becomes more complex in the line planning. In analysis, the mixed railway passenger service network is composed by trains with different attributes such as speed, fare rate, seat type and stop scheme. Based on it, the assignment of multi-level passengers flow with different preferences is studied, which is of great importance in coordinating the passenger flow and trains, and better instructing the line planning. In this thesis, the related researches of railway passenger flow assignment problem in domestic and foreign countries are summarized; meanwhile the researches of assignment problem of road traffic, urban rail transit, transit, railway freight flow, etc. are introduced. Considering the characteristics of railway passenger flow assignment problem, and the similarities and differences with other traffic flow assignment, a basic procedure of railway passenger flow assignment is designed, consisting of data preparation, network construction, route set generation, passenger flow loading and result analysis.Based on the analysis of diversity in passenger transportation market, and the passenger choice behavior, the classification problem of passenger flow and influencing factors of passengers’ choice behavior are analyzed. According to the different types of passenger transportation products, the methods on measuring the differentiation of transportation products are studied. Combined with the passenger travel process plan problem, a double-layer structure train service network is constructed; the constrained conditions of route finding are analyzed; a path algorithm is designed. The network impedance calculating methods of considering or non-considering the controllability of transport organization are proposed, on the basis of the methods on measuring the differentiation of passenger transportation products and passenger travel process. Then five assignment models or strategies are established from different perspective, and solving algorithms are introduced. The evaluation indexes of assignment result are introduced from four aspects:service performance, social benefit, passenger benefit, and business benefit.According to the above theories, a computer system used to assign the multi-level passenger flow in the mixed railway passenger service network is designed and developed. By using this system, an assignment case is studied, which also validated the effectiveness and feasibility of this flow assignment technology.
