In order to ensure the safe and economic operation of power system, measuring the relevant parameters of the power system and power equipment is needed. Potential transformer is important equipment for monitoring the power system. With the development of power system transfer to a large capacity, high voltage level direction, the conventional electromagnetic voltage transformer can no longer meet the needs of high-voltage measurement. Optical fiber voltage transformer is a new type of potential measuring devices developed in recent years. It uses photonics technology and optical fiber sensing technology to measure large-capacity, high-voltage power system voltage, overcomes the shortcomings of the traditional electromagnetic voltage transformer. So it gets attention and study of domestic and foreign scholars, engineers and technicians, and has broad application prospects.This thesis researches optical fiber potential transformer (OPT) based on electro-optic Pockels effect, for the measurement of800kV DC voltage. Its measurement accuracy is mainly affected by two factors. The first is the stability of the optics power. The second is the stability of the electric field applied to the sensor. This thesis mainly studies these two aspects.Intensity of light source is affected by its temperature highly, the higher temperature, the lower light intensity. In order to get stability light output, using constant temperature control system to keep the temperature constant is needed. Traditional PID temperature control system, although widely used, but has some shortcomings. Neuron control is better than PID control. This thesis designed a temperature control system, a neuron algorithm the system to the MCU as the core using the algorithm of neurons. The system is able to control the light source temperature; the light output can quickly stabilize. Control is better than PID control system.OPT is sensing the internal electric field to indirectly measure the voltage to the sensor. The stability of the internal electric field is another factor that decided the measurement accuracy. This thesis uses electromagnetic simulation software Ansoft Maxwell12.1to simulates internal electric field, analysis the measurement principle of the OPT, proves the feasibility of the design, studies the structure and size of the transformer, gives the best measurement programs, and recommendations for design. In addition, discusses the transformer insulation and shielding effectiveness.OPT main completely replaces the electromagnetic transformer. This subject is still in the theoretical study and simulation stage, can not test the actual transformer. This thesis concludes some reference for future research...
