As we know,the auto market of China has a rapid development during recent10years,China now already become the most largest vehicle producer and consumercountry in the world. The global main car manufacture setup their product base, andtry to create the local brand even belongs to them. Also the domestic brands arecreating a lot of new models into the market, and want to share the internationalmarket.Headlights used for the vehicle has more than100years history, the kerosenelamps used for the car from1885,the car light had a flying development. The vehiclelight is the important component,plays a vital role for safety driving. At the sametime, with the diversification of the automobile exterior design, the requirement ofthe light design is become more difficult, not just the complexity of the shape, andalso the develop timing is required shorter and shorter, improve the light distributionquality. With the aerodynamics and styling engineering used for the car body, thebody presents a streamlined design, more and more restrictions to the design shapeof the light reflecting surface, which make the design is more difficult, so a lot oflight distribution software came into being.This paper mainly study the more complex principle of headlight. For headlight,there are two conflicting requirements:1to ensure a good road lighting requirements,to avoid the risk objects to make the reflect as soon as possible, which requires thelighting brightness is higher, the illuminated area is far;2prevent giving the cardriver’s dazzling, and dangerous, so they requested that the lighting height should beslightly lower, not give the opposite driver impacting.In China, the low beam light distribution standards (standard of GB4599-2007"car with filament lamps"), similar to the European ECE standard, it is a mandatoryStandard, all of vehicles on the road which must fully comply with it. The low beamhas an asymmetric light shape, the middle is a high-brightness area to as far aspossible to illuminate the road, but give the opposite driver a dazzling impact. Be spread out near the light beam in the horizontal direction, and the right is showingthe15°angular distribution of the light pattern, help discern the road surroundingand pedestrians.Low beam should has cut-off line.The headlights is the most complex design requirements and the cost is high, thedesign and manufacturing is most difficult. Low beam reflector has the moststringent requirements. We would like to have the low beam light distribution in thedesign phase and want to accurately simulate the effect, to avoid the problem in theproduction phase, need to use software to simulate the light distribution, andsummarize the experience in the design for future projectThis paper combine optical lighting simulation software LucidShap and3Dmodeling software CATIA to, make the simulation for specific headlamp low beamreflector surface, then make the rapid prototype sample, evaluate the the quality ofthe reflector surface, and output the the finial data.
