This paper studies the earthquake damage and seismic performance of masonry wall, which is a research content of the Natural Science Foundation of China(50978177).Because of the shear failure, the masonry structure’s seismic damage is quite serious in all strong earthquakes at home and abroad, and it brought enormous loss to people’s lives and property. According to the current situation of china, the masonry structure housing will play a major role in a long duration. So, it is a important subject to study the features of seismic damage,inhibit the shear failure and improve the seismic capacity.This paper conducts the following research:Firstly, the situation of masonry structure,the features of seismic damage and the failure mode are reviewed.Then presents some advantages on good seismic performance of masonry structural wall and we should take the bending type cracking as the means of achieving efficient masonry walls.According to the research purpose on bending failure, the design and manufacture are finished on L-shaped masonry in this paper.lt mainly discusses the L-shaped of the masonry wall from the following aspects:specimen design(by setting the isolation joint on L-shaped specimen vertical wall junction along the vertical long, which can realize the bending yield model),the test materials mechanical property(specimen design and strength test, collapsed slump and the consistency test),specimens manufacture(including the bottom beam and the top beam, masonry of walls, concrete pouring and so on),loading device, arrangement of measuring points and the debugging of loading system and so on.Secondly, on the basis of previous researches, analyzing the influence factors of seismic shear capacity, and calculating the specimen’s bearing capacity,then use it to pre-analyze before the experiment and provide the basis in loading stage.Finally, it can get different load-displacement curve under the vertical load through the ANSYS finite element experimental simulation analysis by changing the loading point height. Besides, it also get the displacements of cracking load and ultimate load and get the features of the wall’s the failure through the cracking, control the wall bending and shear failure modes. Also,making the single wall and the masonry wall with flanges shape to finite element simulation respectively. By contrast, we find the masonry wall with flanges shape is exist and it can make the main wall shear strength improved by more than10%. Finally, we should consider the longitudinal wall and cross wall joint work’s influence during the calculation and analysis for the brick masonry wall seismic checking.The research results of this article will provide a reference for formulation and revision of the relevant standards and project application.
