An unreinforced wall between windows is tested under horizontal low cycle load and its model is established with ABAQUS finite element software, to study its failure mode, anti-collapse capacity, deformability and dissipation capacity, bearing capacity, etc. And its overall seismic performance is comparatively studied with that of other specimens in this project, other brick wall, medium-height or high-rise shear wall with bi-diretional single row of steel bars and normal medium-height or high-rise reinforced concrete shear wall. The content of the research is based on Shanxi science and technology key project20110313026-3and NSFC50978177.And the goal is to improve and promote the new masonry structure system with my modest contribution.Firstly, research status, research characteristics and development tendency of masonry structure are summarized. Seismic advantages and related researches of masonry structure’s in-plane bending failure mode are explained and a new direction of masonry structure is pointed out. The research contents and purpose of this thesis are proposed. Design and production of test specimen, characterization of material’s mechanical properties, installation of test specimen and equipment and loading system and solution are described. Moreover, specimen’s crack propagation and failure mode are described in detail, and specimen’s hysteretic behavior, skeleton curve characteristics, displacement angle, ductility factor, stiffness and stiffness degradation, and bearing capacity are comparatively analyzed with other specimens in this project, other brick wall, medium-height or high-rise shear wall with bi-diretional single row of steel bars and normal medium-height or high-rise reinforced concrete shear wall. Results show that brick wall with constructional column between windows in bending failure mode has better energy consumption, deformability, lateral resistance ability and other seismic capacity than plain brick wall between windows in failure mode. New brick masonry wall with constructional column between windows has better comprehensive seismic performance than plain brick masonry wall, medium-height or high-rise shear wall with bi-diretional single row of steel bars, and normal medium-height or high-rise reinforced concrete shear wall. Finally, different models of unreinforced wall between windows with isolation are established and analyzed with ABAQUS finite element software. The results of numerical simulation and test are compared to verify the correctness of test results and the validity of finite element modeling analysis. The effects of different shear span ratio and axial force on the failure shape, bearing capacity and deformation ability of seismic brick wall are analyzed.
