Involute tooth profile gear has a good passing performance, as well as simple processing tools, mature technology, et al. So involute cylindrical gears are widely used in mechanical transmission. However, due to the elastic deformation, thermal deformation and the inevitable manufacturing, installation error in the gear teeth, it will appear nie into and nie out shock, vibration and noise in the meshing process, if just rely on improving the processing and installation accuracy to improve transmission performance, it will certainly increase the manufacturing costs. A lot of practical and theoretical studies have shown that the appropriate modification of the involute tooth profile can effectively improve the operating performance, increase its carrying capacity,"modification of tooth addendum and dedendum" was adopted in conventional tooth profile modification in the combination of the amount of modification, repair-shaped curve, modification height, and many other factors as the starting point and end point on the gear modification, although get some good results after the modification has been made, the continuity of the gear tooth profile would be destroyed and the smoothness of transmission would be affected.Arc transformed curve has the characteristics of ease of processing and similar geometry with involute.In order to ensure the continuity of the curve of the tooth profile modification and reduce the occurrence of meshing vibration, the paper attempts to combine the arc transformation curve equation to establish a simple approximation mathematical model, and then use it to approximation the theoretical modification of involute, and use the optimal parameters derived in the approximation to finish out the curve of the wheel which is used for grinding involute gear, in the hope to process out the gear which can meet the requirements of the gear transmission.First of all, introduces about the theoretical principles of the tooth profile modification, and then describes the functions and features of Pro/E software, and details how to use Pro/E to establish a standard straight-tooth cylindrical gear, as a foundation for the subsequent modification calculation and finite element analysis.Secondly, describes the traditional gear tooth profile modification method, and combines with the corresponding theoretical parabolic involute tooth profile to modify simply. Then details the forming principle of the arc transformation curve, and transformer the coordinate of arc transformation curve to the involute’s through the graphical transformation principle, and establish the curve approaching mathematical model. Use the optimal parameters obtained from approaching the modification curve to establish the arc transformation curve tooth profile gear.Finally, carry on the gear mesh dynamic contact analysis with two profile gear mesh model about standard involute and the arc transformation curve in ANSYS/LS-DYNA. And then get the results through comparing that the performance of arc transformation curve gear is better than the involute gear’s. The article also points out that the arc transformation curve wheel which is used for machining and grinding gear is easily finished, this subject is of practical significance.
