Along with the development of construction of infrastructure, there are increasing numbers of road projects that need to construct more tunnels. One the other hand, the geological conditions of these tunnels are becoming more complex than before. In order to make sure the safety of these projects and improve the efficiency, the importance of the advance geological prediction is growing dramatically. The present paper mainly shows the research on Ground Penetration Radar and Tunnel Seismic Prediction method according to the practice in the work of advanced geological prediction project in Changshan tunnel and the experience of advanced geological prediction technology in and out. The paper intends to illustrate the points below:1. The thesis makes a brief introduction of the types of advanced geological prediction means domestic and abroad and the situation of the practice of the prediction.2. The dissertation gives a thorough illustration of the principle of GPR and TSP method, along with the way of manipulating the GPR and TSP apparatus. Make a comparison of the both method through the prediction data and the geology explanation in the practice of Changshan tunnel.3. The paper has shown the status of the construction of gas tunnels around the word, especially the definition of gas tunnel in China and the advanced geological prediction work to the nature gas; makes a point that the advanced drilling technology is the most effective way of testing the gas at present. The paper instructs the features and the way of manipulating the advanced drilling technology in the practice of drilling in the tunnel.4. The thesis gives the research of comprehensive advanced geological prediction system, demonstrates that the in the work of advanced geological prediction, we should concentrate on the principle that "take the geological analysis as the foremost, combine the geophysical methods with the drilling technology, take the information of former geological survey and geological investigation into consideration." The situation of Changshan tunnel is complicate because there are coal bed and nature gas, water inrush, karst and cavities of mining. Thus the difficulty of prediction work is apparent. In the practice of prediction at Changshan tunnel, the use of Ground Penetration Radar, Tunnel Seismic Prediction and Tunnel Geology Prediction methods result of decent consequence. In addition, the advanced drilling technology has been proved effective. These works could probably provide the geological prediction field with theories and experiences.
