Pile foundation is the most widely used type of foundation. The prediction of its settlement is important in the design of the pile foundation. To the high-speed railway and high-rise building, the settlement of foundation is limited strictly. However, to determine the settlement of pile foundations is still a difficult work at present.In this paper, a method to predict the settlement of pile foundation based on the result of in-situ load test of the single pile is developed by using the Mindlin soluton. The work of the thesis include:(1) The skin friction, tip resistance of pile from the test of the single pile is used to calculate tip resistance coefficient and friction resistance coefficient.(2) On basis of the curve of load-settlement, the equivalent elastic module of the soils may be obtained by means of Mindlin soluton.(3) Load-settlement curve, tip resistance coefficient and friction resistance coefficient corresponding to unknown load are obtained by linear interpolation.(4) The settlement of a pile in the group caused by other piles is calculated by means of Mindlin solution. The settlements of every piles in the group should be equal to keep consistent deformation of the pier. Then, the settlement of the pile foundation can be solved.(5) Computer program is compiled with c++language to implement aforementioned calculation.(6) Finally, the method is applied to a foundation of bridge in Beijing-Shanghai high speed railway. The settlement obtained with the method show good agreement to the in-situ measured settlement.
