The Use Of Traditional Regional Characteristics In The Design Of Small Urban Settlements

With the accelerating process of urbanization in China, many of the problems of big cities settlements gradually revealed, we also find a lot of small town living area design copying and following the big city design methods, these problems also allows us to reflect the design of small urban settlements convergence on being not follow the large cities, including a particularly serious problem caused by the lack of regional identity. In the design of small-town settlements, the large-scale construction and use of urban residential, most urban settlements ignore the cause in which a variety of psychological problems, such as a sense of belonging, designed for regional scenarios, the loss in sense of place and so on.In this paper,on the basic idea of new urbanism, we consider the use of regional characteristics in the design of small urban settlements from the perspective of urban design,on the height of the region,we think and solve problems, advocating for humanity, sense of community in cities and towns, emphasizing the development of excellent geographical tradition, and we study the design of small urban settlements from the perspective of urban design and the use of traditional regional characteristics, and absorb the experience in the design of the contemporary urban settlements, sum up experiences and lessons of the small towns of planning and design,and propose the new settlements regional design method of small urban.The paper focuses on regional characteristics in the design of small urban settlements strategy, its point of view the use of strategies in the overall spatial pattern, including the texture of the building groups in the overall space design; organic combination of public space, street space, space design; the structure of the landscape system, including creating the system of regional characteristics of the landscape, the landscape elements of the regional design,, update the landscape system design; the design of public space, including the shape of public space, scale, regional point of view; roads and walking systems; for the different regional levels of the small towns using different regional design strategy.Thinking of this subject of regional design strategies for small urban settlements, its theoretical significance lies in thinking from the perspective of urban design,and gives a new theory of the regional characteristics of urban design in small urban settlements, explores new ideas for small town quell area Planning and Design to provide some valuable design theory.
