ABSTRACT:The multi-ribbed wall is a new kind of structures nowadays. At present, certain staged achievements have been made in the theoretical and applied research on multi-ribbed walls, however, the study of deformation property which influence the seismic property of the wall and the whole structure of the infilled frame which is the fundamental composition of multi-ribbed wall structures, remains blank. Based on the materials fully collected, the main content of this paper will be with the infilled frame. To prove the accuracy of the finite element models, the dates of the former experiment will be compared with dates of models built by ANSYS. After that, blocks with grooves will be studied to find out which method of cutting grooves on blocks is the best. Finally the applications of blocks with grooves on the walls will be studied.The main content fulfilled in this paper is as follows:1. Through ANSYS, a half-scale model will be built. And some dates of this model, such as initial stiffness, cracking load, cracking displacement, ultimate load, ultimate placement, will be compared with dates of the former experiment. Through the results, the accuracy of ANSYS will be supported.2. Based on the last step, many models with grooves will be built by ANSYS. Through the comparisons of the models with grooves or without grooves, the best method of cutting grooves will be found and it can enlarge the ultimate displacement with the least decrease of ultimate load.3. In the next step, the blocks with grooves selected in the second step will be placed on standard multi-ribbed wall. The best way to place the blocks will be found through studies by ANSYS.The originality of this paper lies in:1. The concept of multi-ribbed wall with grooves is posed to increase the seismic property of the wall.2. The best method to cut grooves on block and place blocks with grooves on the wall is found through numerical analysis.
