As an important part of power system,distribution network which can operate safely,stablyand economically is significant guarantee for power users’production and living. But,there ismuch reactive power flowing in Distribution network for features of a long line,complexbranching and many inductive loads which grows with economic,and these make it increaseline-loss,take power,and bring economic losses to power company. Besides,it would seriouslyaffect the users’electricity quality in production and life. So,do reactive power compensation isnecessary. Reactive power optimization of distribution network’s content is where to installcompensation equipment,which form should compensation equipment take and how to select totalcapacity and adjust series for compensation equipment. It’s not enough to improve result of reactivepower compensation only depend on experience; we also should use scientific and rational methodsfor its optimization. For this actual issue,to research a useful distribution network reactive poweroptimization method is of great significance.This article had established a mathematical model which used minimum comprehensive cost asobjective functions. The model based on In-depth analysis of necessity,configure principles,modalities and equipment of reactive power optimization for distribution network and make fullaccount of distribution network system voltage levels,investment costs for reactive powercompensation and system loss benefits. Distribution network flow algorithm is the basis for analysisof distribution network optimization,it can get better result to select a suitable flow algorithm fordistribution network .This paper designed a flow calculation method named back/forward sweep,and used IEEE 33 nodes in distribution system to check efficiency and accuracy of this algorithm.After analysis of selecting reactive power compensation point,the paper develop algorithmprogram of load power impedance moment,and made a positioning method combining load powerimpedance moment with reactive power twice accurate moment,this method can reducedimensionality for determining the optimal compensation capacity,besides,it can reducesinvestment of reactive power compensation equipment. This paper used genetic optimizationalgorithm which has strong global optimization capability and other advantages to determine thebest capacity for reactive power compensation equipment. Besides,made some improvement ofthis algorithm,then selected example to do some calculation,analysis and simulation to check thealgorithm of efficiency and practicality in reactive power optimization of distribution network. Atlast,develop graphical interface software using MATLAB to improve operability of reactivepower optimization in distribution network.
