Distribution line loss is the main part of network loss. In order to decrease distributionline loss, reactive power compensation is needed. This paper presents the common model ofdistribution reactive power compensation and gives an introduction about the traditionalarithmetic of compensation capacitor's location and capacity. Also, it studies the latest trendsof all kinds of reactive optimizing arithmetic and points out the advantages and disadvantagesof each arithmetic. This paper analyses Distributing Network for Oil Field (DNOF),points outthe main cause of the line loss in DNOF, as oil field distribution usually adopts theunilateralist power supply connection model, which has an embranchment radiation style,with the features of large loan scattering, low power factor and huge terminalvoltage-decreasing, the method of combining following machine compensation withscattering compensation is presented, with the method of dividing DNOF into severalsubsystems, the complicated system become simple, then high power motors are compensatedin each subsystem instantly, under the above, considering radiation style of DNOF, powerload is then calculated by Dist Flow method and the quadratic accurate moment of reactivepower is calculated, so the nodes that affect line loss evidently and that can improve voltagelevel remarkably are characterized by quadratic accurate moment of reactive power.The best compensation point is chosen according to quadratic accurate moment ofreactive power and the compensation capacity is decided by power factor. Compared withother methods, model of quadratic accurate moment of reactive power reflects more vividphysical meaning, produces more accurate results, shows more remarkable effects. Thismethod has been put into use of IEEE35 node network and it turns out that it is veryremarkable when quadratic accurate moment of reactive power is used not only for lossdecreasing but also in improving voltage level. Accurate load forecast is very important todecide capacity of reactive power compensation, style of compensating and compensationpoint for DNOF. Because load of power network changes at times, the compensation capacityalso changes at times. How to forecast change rules of load and determinate compensation capacity and location is the central problem of reactive power optimization. There for, thepaper introduces various methods of load forecast and their latest research trends, selects GrayModel to forecast the load in DNOF. Error analysis proves Gray Model producing moreaccurate results.
