The research of wave characteristics propagation near shore is much important incoastal research projects. This paper investigates the surf zone on the sloping-bottomplatform on the base of physical model experiments and the numerical simulationmethods.This paper proves the feasibility of using PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry)technology to measure flow field characteristic in surf zone, which solves the shortageof the traditional single point measurement. For getting the whole flow fieldcharacteristic in surf zone, a moving PIV system is built to solve the problems ofsuperposition and reconfiguration of multi-windows. The appropriate data analysistechnology is used to get the transformation of the free surface and flow fieldcharacteristic (the shallow effect, the morphology of wave break, flow fieldcharacteristic.ect) and the time variation (different phase of free surface and flow fieldcharacteristic). The method of frequency spectrum is used to research the wave energyevolution over the sloping-bottom platform. A series of 2 dimensional flow field ofspace-time characteristics are used to research the vortex scale, wave breakcharacteristic and the turbulent kinetic energy transformation of space-timecharacteristics.This paper uses the OpenFOAM which is a CFD open source tool box based onthe C++ language to build the 2 dimensional dynamic mesh wave tank which isimplanted the regular wave equation to build the flap-maker boundary, and proves itsstability. The damping term is implanted to the momentum equation of the solver tobuild the damp wave elimination boundary. This 2 dimensional dynamic mesh wavetank is used to simulate the wave surf zone on the sloping-bottom platform and thedata which is analyzed to research the vortex scale, break mechanism and theturbulence characteristics is in comparison with the PIV experiment data. The resultshows that the numerical model can be good at simulating the turbulencecharacteristics while wave transport over the sloping-bottom platform.
