Glass fiber reinforced plastic/polymer (GFRP) is a kind of widely used highperformance composites materials. Compared with the other reinforcementmethod,using GFRP mesh to lay in the mortar layer and paste in or the outersurface of the structural component is a good method which is highly efficient,highly strength and durability.The method has wide range of applications andmany other advantages.At the same time,compared the GFRP mesh with manyother reinforcement materials such as reinforced steels,the material conform topromote energy theme,because not only cheap,light weight and convenientoperating, cutting and storage. In recent years, because the using of massproduction of glass fiber,many experts and professors both at home and abroadalso began to concern about the using of the glass fiber FRP mesh in structurestrengthening projcet. Followed the reinforcement of concrete structures,other experimental studies and theoretical about the using of GFRP meshreinforcement of masonry walls,columns has also been formed.Some experimentaland theoretical research are made in this paper to use GFRP sheet are furtherapplied in the field of masonry structures reinforcement.Firstly, in this paper, all kinds of reinforcement methods for masonrystructures in domestic and foreign are reviewed including the performancecharacteristics and practical application of the GFRP sheet. And then doingcompressive and shear experiments on brick masonry using monotonic loadingmethod.Contrast cracking load,ultimate strength and displacement values fromunstrengthened brick masonry and the brick columns joined with reinforcednetwork or GFRP mesh in the horizontal mortar laying. Meanwhile, shearexperiments of brick masonry are made using different ways about adhesivingGFRP mesh to compare the reinforcing effect and destructive phenomenon.Modeland numerical simulation have been done by ANSYS which is a kind of elementanalysis software. Appropriate calculations assume unconsidering the contactproblem is used in this paper.Nonlinear finite element calculation on performanceof masonry by the using of real constants and appropriate criterion of material properties are set in this paper.It is found that compared with other ordinary structural component,there is asignificant effect about improving carrying capacity and delaying to produce thecracks on GFRP-enhanced structural component.Compare with reinforced meshmasonry,laying a layer of GFRP mesh to the mortar layer can increase the bearingcompressive capacity of brick columns and slow cracks development.At the sametime,the advantage such as cost cheaply,cutting and storage convenient areprominent. Adhesiving GFRP mesh in the vertical side of through seam caneffectively improve shear strength.Both delay the occurrence of cracks and preventsudden destruction comparing with the other two reinforcement methods.... |
