Study On Urban Spatial Expansion Of Zhengzhou City Since The2000s

Since the reform and opening-up, our country has entered a rapid urbanization development period, and the process of urbanization has accelerated constantly. With the population and wealth concentrated in the big city, the city size has expanding rapidly. The urban spatial began to expand around the city and suburbs, resulting in a lot of energy and resources were wasted, environmental degradation, and because of dependence increased for motor vehicles, causing the city traffic jam, that was harmful to human health and safety, as well as a serious threat to the sustainable development of cities.In recent years, with the process of urbanization accelerating in Zhengzhou city, combined with its special plain topography, urban spatial has been expanding rapidly. Due to the importance of regional location, the particularity of the natural and geographical conditions, choose Zhengzhou City as the object of the study on urban spatial expansion is typical, representative and comprehensive.Based on the above background, the paper chooses Zhengzhou City as the object of study, mainly focuses on the bad consequences and affecting factors of urban spatial expansion in the past decade since the2000s, further proposes expansion strategy and suggestion, and provides ideas for the healthy and efficient development of Zhengzhou City.The paper is devided into five chapters:The first chapter mainly introduces the study background and significance,the survey of the study area,the definition and the comprehensive description of the object and related concepts, the study methods and frameworks; The second chapter analyzes the Zhengzhou city’s urban spatial expansion process of population growth, economic development, expansion of built-up areas, changes in the spatial structure, industrial expansion, etc. and the relevant traffic congestion, environmental degradation and other major problems since the2000s; The third chapter focuses on analyzing and summarizing the affecting factors that affect the urban spatial expansion of Zhengzhou City in the past decade since the2000s, including the natural and geographical conditions, population growth and economic development, real estate and information technology development, government decision-making, as well as urban planning etc; The forth chapter proposed expansion strategy and suggestion extending to the "connotative development"; extension direction " two combined"; creating a traffic pattern of sustainable development; strengthening planning guidance and control; Finally, the fifth chapter makes the main conclusions of this paper, and points out the inadequate and thinking of this study.
