Location Advantage Of Large-Scale Railway Station In The City Central District

With the economic development and the urbanization process speeding up, influence of the railway station on the city are more and more obvious. While the western developed country has been focus on the construction of the hub in the city central district, China has treated the railway station as a weakness of city, and the government has rebuilt a lot of railway station which was far from the city central district. There is no exactly answer on how to measure the location advantage of railway station in city central district. On the base of the different between the western developed country and China, and the blank area of theoretical research, the paper explored the location advantage of large-scale railway station in the city central district, and more, the paper wanted to find some inspiration from the evolution of this location advantage. The paper considered that there were two kind of function in the railway station in the city—the node(hub) function in the transport network and the economic and cultural function as a large public building function in city. As the result, the paper constructed a model which included transport function and city function from the view of economic. Based on the theoretical analysis of above, the paper takes the grand central station in NYC as the case to the empirical study, and verifies the conclusions of this paper.
