Shaft parts size measurement is very important in the shaft parts manufacturing technology. With the development of the manufacturing technique, the traditional measure method is not enough for the production. In our country, the detection of parts is hand-actuated by some apparatuses or optical instruments, which bring the detection some disadvantages such as ineffective, less reliability and accurate, and high cost.With the progress of science and technology, using machine vision for high-precision measurement of the shaft parts size become possible. Through dealing with the acquired, image and achieving size detection, not only can improve the detection efficiency, precision and reliability, reduce cost and error rates, but also be beneficial for the users to analyse measured data, and improve shaft parts production links, thereby improve the production quality and efficiency.This research project combined with the development trends and the actual application requirements, is basing on the reference to a large number of documents and the early version of this shaft parts size computer vision detection system, Considering of the defects of the early version, some improvement and optimization had been made to the structure of this system, and a few practical functions also be added, making the system structure more reasonable, the function more complete, the interface more aesthetics, and the operation more convenient. This paper includes four parts below:(1) Elaborate computer vision size detection technology application status and development trend at home and abroad, and proposed the R&D significance of this shaft parts computer vision detection system. The compositions of the system hardware platform and each module of the hardware platform are detailed.(2) Based on the hardware platform has been erected, follow on the analysis of the system requirements and design goals, and especially on the repeated communication and consultation with the detection system users, improve the software structure of this system, the various modules of the software system are been introduced, and the inspection process for shaft parts of this system is also given. (3) Design the interface of this software system using VC#development platform, on the basis of satisfying the practical application, pay more attention to details, adds some practical functions, make operation convenient. The realization principles of various functional modules of this system are given, and the design of the system database is described in detail.(4) Considering to the number of detection parameters in the early version of this system is not enough, according to actual requirements, multiple detection parameters are added, making the system to meet actual production needs. The interface and program structure of the early version are optimized, which is beneficial for operating and subsequent development.
