Pipeline transport is one of the five major international modes of transport, but inrecent years, with the increasing in the number of pipelines and the growing on theage of pipes, pipeline leak occurred frequently because of the wear of thepipeline, aging of equipment, geographic variations, the corrosion of chemical and itsman-made damage and other factors. The north in winter is very cold, The mainheating measures is the heat pipe, heat pipe leak caused not only a waste of waterresources and the the huge economic losses, the more serious is that a lot ofinconvenience to people’s lives, Therefore, how to find the location of the leak pointsof heat pipeline quickly and efficiently is directly related to the comfort level ofpeople’s lives and the level of utilization of water resourcesThe pipeline leak detector which are based on infrared are more and more widelyused in people’s lives with its non-contact, positioning accurate and low powerconsumption and other advantages. Such products are mostly used in the oil, gas andwater pipeline leak detection. But Leak detection is very small devoted to the heatpipeline, There are many limitations for the instruments which are used to detect heatpipe leakage points, such as the detector based on listening to the sound and thedetector based on the detection of rare gases,.Detector based on listening to the soundrequirements enough pressure, or can not be measured. So The Design of thermalpipeline leak detection instrument based on infrared radiation has importanttheoretical and practical significance. It explains the principle of temperature measurement based on infrared radiation, indicating that any object, as long as the temperature above absolute zero (-273.5°C)will be out infrared radiation, We can detect the surface temperature by infraredradiation. This article also explains the principle of heat pipe temperature diffusion inthe soil and earth temperature field in the application of ANSYS large finite elementsimulation software tube leak on China’s northern winter in-depth simulation, itprovides an important theoretical basis for the design and development ofinstrumentation systems. Combined with the results of simulation and analysis of theexisting pipeline inspection technology, the overall design scheme of thermal pipelineleak detection instrument based on infrared radiation is proposed. This paper discusses the design of the power system of the instruments, itillustrates the process of transformation of the electricity demand and voltage of eachmodule of the system. Select the microcontroller MSP430F149as a microprocessorbased on low power consumption and Powerful processing capabilities, and designsoftware functional systems based on C language,it also gives the flow chart of themain processing system. In this paper, the operating temperature of the environment, precision, response time and other factors on infrared detectors and A/D convertermodel selection, and described its working principle and workflow. It designed and produced a prototype suitable for outdoor operation, anintelligent human-computer interaction is designed, it also detailes description of thebutton control system and LCD display system, and describes the overall workflow ofthe instrument, and gives a flow chart. A outdoor practical test of this prototypesystem has be done to prove the effectiveness of the leak detector based on infraredradiation of the heat pipe. I analyzed the experimental data, indicating that thisinstrument has many advantages, such as non-contact, high precision, easy to carry. This paper describes the performance of the instrument and to make matters should benoted that in actual use. Finally, the instrument design and development process is summarized. In orderto improve the system design, this paper presents recommendations for theperformance of the instrument for further research.
