CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) can provide continuous gearratio to achieve a good economy, power and driving smoothness, and also canreduce emissions and costs. Because of these advantages, metal belt CVT iswidely used in car recently. Metal belt is used to transmit the power throughpulleys which can change their width, so continuously transmission ratio can begot. Metal belt contain more than two hundred pieces of sheet metal and two setsof metal ring, it is complex. The metal belt worn badly during the operation,Maintenance is difficult. Combined with the Jilin university campus fund-theforefront of science and interdisciplinary innovation project” the basic theory ofnew CVT transmission mechanism and its dynamic characteristics”, this paperpresents a new cone ring CVT transmission system which has a simple structure,a clear transmission mechanism and easy to maintenance.This paper has inspected and analyzed many literatures about the CVThistory and research situation at home and abroad. Based on this, cone ring CVTtransmission mechanism is described in detail: because of its own geometriccharacteristics, continuous transmission ratio can be got. Cone ring CVT ratioadjustment method and stall in control mode also be analyzed in this paper. Inorder to ensure the efficiency of power transmission, effective measures must begiven. The relationship between the key components’ geometry dimensions andthe positions of ring are listed. These provide the basic theory for the follow-upstudy.In this paper, the RecureDyn’s second development platform PNet is usedfor a second development. The cone ring CVT digital design and analysis systemis developed to simplify the modeling process, reduce duplication of modelingtime and improve the work efficiency. The parameters of size and physicalcharacteristics of the cone ring CVT are realized. It provides the basic structuralframework for the subsequent development.Based on the cone ring CVT transmission mechanism, in this paper the cone ring CVT3D model is built. Through simulation analysis of cone ring CVTwhich does not take into consideration of the efficiency of power transfer. Itstransmission ratio changes linearly that is shown in the result. Stress analysis ofCVT transmission system is performed in position with different transmissionratios, by using stress analysis software ANAYS. Through comparing force statusof the cones and the ring, stress at different positions of the same component andthe stress characteristics of transmission in the whole process were got. The ringis the key component of the CVT system, in the transmission process, the forcechange slightly. With the changes of the ring position, the stress of input conegradually decreases and the stress of output cone gradually increase.The paper for the first time systematically expounded the cone ring CVTtransmission mechanism, and has a static analysis for the main transmissioncomponents. The development process of the cone ring CVT digital design is alsodescribed in this paper which can provides the basic methods and ideas for futuresimilar development. The results we got are true and reliable and have animportant engineering significance.
