In recent years, with the trend of China’s population aging isaccelerated, the number and proportion of older person is increasingrapidly. As the old age is growing, their body functions deteriorategradually, physical strength degrades. In particular, some old people’slegs have no enough power, they just only walk slowly in a short distance,and even cannot stand up by themselves at last. This gives a heavy burdento their families and the social nursing home. In response to thisphenomenon, it is very necessary to develop a tool to help old people tostand up and walk. It can meet their needs in daily life, and develop abroad market potential.This paper is based on the principle of metamorphic mechanism,makes full use the features of its changing structure state, at differentstages in work, completes different motion process. Importantly, makes itpossible to help the old to stand up. Finally, by designing a kind ofself-help vehicle based on the principle of metamorphic mechanism, itachieves the function of helping old to stand up and instead of walking.This paper includes the following.(1) Analyzes the problem’s situation, make the design requirementscertain, and establishes the design scheme of self-help vehicle. Accordingto the existing problems in the movement of old people to stand and walk,prepares a design goal of the subject, and makes a feasibility research;determines the functional requirements of self-help vehicle, makes thefocus on auxiliary elderly standing, decompose the process of self-helpstanding up; combined the short-distance walking needs of the self-helpvehicle, and corresponds to each decomposition function, obtains theoverall program of the self-help vehicle. (2) On the principle of metamorphic mechanism, designs thestructure of self-help chair, analyzes the chair’s topology and freedom.According to the process of standing by the body, and the decompositioncourse of functional requirements, designs lifting devices, the seats flipdevice, backrest adjustment device and metamorphic component withtime delay control function. At last, analyzes topology and freedom of theself-help chair in various stages of work.(3) In accordance with the driving requirements of the self-helpvehicle, designs the programs of self-help vehicle. Integrates seat size,the driving and activitie’s space of human, designs the structure and sizeof the frame; In accordance with the driven distance and speedrequirements of self-help vehicle, designs the wheel structure andtransmission mode; According to the demand for travel and changedirection, designs steering mechanism; In order to achieve the goal ofusing the chair alone, designs removable connection component.(4) Establishes3D model of self-help vehicle, makes the motionsimulation, verifies the trajectory map of main components. According tothe3D model and simulation results, analyzes the trajectories of helpstanding up process; Designs the3D model of the mechanical drivingsystem, made motion simulation, obtains trajectory map; According to theprogram of self-help vehicle’s structure, establishes3D model of maincomponents in self-help vehicle, simulates the process of assembly anddisassembly. Finally, obtains the3D model of the self-help vehicle.
