With the rapid growth of China’s economic strength and the continuous increasing of large-scale construction projects, the slope engineering has been growing in number day by day, and the engineering accidents related with instability and failure of the slope are also common occurances. Therefore, the research of stability and reliability evaluation of the slope has becomed an important issue in the fields of geotechnical engineering research. However, becaused of a high degree of complexity and uncertainty of slope engineering rock mass, the geotechnical parameters have a certain interval scope changes. Thus it is necessary to introduce uncertainty analysis model to study stability analysis and reliability evaluation of the slope. In this, we made a preliminary study and exploration of the application in the slope stability analysis in this paper. The main work is as follows:(1) The basic theory of interval mathematics is introduced. Several solution methods of interval linear equations are elaborated. And the problem of the expansion in the interval arithmetic is studied, with the causes and the treatment methods.(2) With the full consideration of the interval characteristics of the geotechnical parameters, the interval limit equilibrium analysis method and interval finite element method applied in analysis of the slope stability are established, through original analysis method of the slope stability. And a set of interval evaluation criteria of slope stability state is summarized. Thereby the stability of a specific slope can be evaluated more objectively.(3) Based on the safety coefficient interval of slope stability, the non-probability reliability model of the slope stability is established, by introducing the interval non-probability reliability thought. The rule of effect of the variability of geotechnical parameters on the non-probabilistic reliability of the slope stability is further explored, by taking a specific slope as an example.(4) The stability analysis and the non-probability reliability evaluation based on interval analysis method are both applied to a specific project, a high fill slope at Fujian Yongan power plant, and it is verified that the interval uncertainty analysis method applied to slope engineering is feasible.
