More and more huge hydropower plants are in construction along with the quicker developing of West districts in China. The stability of rock slope is more important in the period of construction and running of the hydropower plants.Recently two main methods of slope stability evaluating are used. One is qualitative evaluating, including historical analysis, comparative analysis and so on. The other is quantitative evaluating, including limited equilibrium analysis, finite element analysis and so on. The theories and results of each method are different. The stability of high slope in the left side of the hydropower plant in Wawushan is studied in this thesis. The studying method is based on the path of site surveying to test to deciding methods to stability calculation. The methods of reinforcement are put forward after the stability is calculated. The region environment and geological background are studied firstly. Considering the digging, rainstorm and water level of the reservoir, the sensitivity of each factor is analyzed based on the analysis results of the slope shape and fissuring distributing. By selecting 16 kinds of behavior in nature, rainstorm, seismic situation, the slope stability is calculated in Sarma method and Chen Zuyu energy method. The reinforcement methods are put forward in the last chapter. The research indicates that, the slope can keep entirely stable in each behavior. However, the block can be local unstable during the construction and running period for the cutting of two joint sets. After the reservoir is impounded, the stability can be limited reduced. When the water lever is suddenly falling down, the stability can be apparently reduced. The reducing will be obvious later. The reinforcement methods are chosen associated with the practical situation of the hydropower plant.
