The intake tunnel and the inlet conduit in circulating water pump house of the power plant are the important parts of the circulating water system,their designs are not only related to their operation wether can be safe or stable,but also related to the ciculating pump’s operating efficiency. It plays an important roll in reducing the construction investment and pre longing the service life of the water circulating pump to design the flow structure reasonably.So the designs of the power plant water intake tunnel and the inlet conduit for circulating water pump house has become a very important topic in hydraulics.According to an engineering of designing a power plant,we do some physical model tests on the intake tunnel and the inlet conduit for circulating water pump house,at the same time,we do some reserch on the flow velocity both in the intake tunnel gate well and the inlet conduit,then we can find that the uniformity of water distribution is poor in the original plan,the flow in the forebay is fali to full diffusion.It leads to the deviation of the flow velocity which is larger at the inlet conduit.Therefore we have to do some further improvement research.Based on the original design scheme, we need to modify its size of bend radius and the length of the straight in upstream and downstream in connection with the nonuniformity of the flow in order to make the flow velocity distribution uniform at the gate well.Then optimizing the inlet flow uniformity of water distribution by modifying the structure of the bulidings which layout in the forebay,such as adding diversion wall, energy beem,diversion block.And thus we put forward different modification scheme,adjust the flow velocity distribution in the forebay,make sure that the water flow can get into the inlet conduit smoothly.This paper uses Fluent software to do Three-Dimension numerical simulation on the circulating water pump house.We mainly study the water flow distribution and do numerical simulation on the modifacation schame. The simulation results are used for comparing and analysing with the data of model tests mesured. It proved that the results of them conic ide well. The results show that the mathematical model is siutable to this project and it can be used to some simulations in similar projects,it have some progmatic values.In this paper, analysis of the main conclusions are:(1) This paper introduces the design of circulating water pump house of physical model test, do some reserch on the original design and modify programs, then get the flow velocity distribution at the water tunnel gate well and the inlet conduit,at the same time evaluates the flow of the water distribution uniformity.(2) Aiming at the non-uniform of the flow velocity distribution, we modify the bending radius of the water tunnel segment, the straight length of upstream and downstream, make them adjust the flow velocity at the gate well and modify the structural arrangement in the forebay to make the water uniform.(3) This paper uses Fluent software to do three-dimensional numerical simulation on the circulating water pump house, analysis the different options of numerical simulation results and physical model test data, and draw that the Fluent software can do the flow velocity distribution simulate on the circulating pump room well.(4)Through the different turbulence models, we can find that the accuracy of the standard κ~ε model is higher than that of Realizable κ~ε model in the whole numerical simulation research on circulating water pump house.
