In this paper, the preventive repair policies for a system with two types of failures based on the geometric process are considered.First of all, on the basis of the literature[40], this paper is added the preventive maintenance, and it is assumed that the time interval of between two preventive repairs is a constant. The failure types of the system include repairable failure and unrepairable failure, repairable failure is repairable, and unrepairable failure can only beremoved by replacement. On this basis, the explicit expression of the cost efficiency C(N) and the optimal replacement policy C(N*) are solved, and the practicability of preventive repair policy is verificated by the data.Next, it is considered that the time interval of between two preventive repairs is a varible. In the system operation process, the preventive repair is executed when the system reliability reaches an constant R.The explicit expression of the cost efficiency C(N) and the optimal replacement policy C(N*) are solved. And the corresponding optimal policy N*and the minimal cost efficiency is provided by a numerical example. Finally, under the same conditions, the preventive repair policies are more appropriate that compared with the repair model without preventive.
