Hybrid electric vehicles is a kind of the energy-saving model in combination of the new electric vehicles and the traditional vehicles, it has become a research hot spot in various countries’ automotive industry. In this background, this paper depends on this area as a hybrid electric vehicle running the advantage of national demonstration city, this paper analyzed the construction of the hybrid electric bus’s drivetrain system, and simulated the model of the drivetrain system and optimized the methods, puts forward the hybrid electric bus’s drivetrain system construction method.After building the driving cycle of the local bus, analyzing the driving data according the data from the Electric Vehicle Information Processing System designed by our research group, this paper analyzed the hybrid bus’s components in the drivetrain system. This paper built the models of transmission, engine, motor/generator, batter system, energy management system, etc. with the MATLAB/Simulink. After that, this paper simulated this model in the Simulink platform for optimization and fuel assessment.The simulation results show that the computation parameters in the drivetrain model designed in this paper are similar with the actual running. The oil consumption and battery SOC stability in the improved control method are better than before. Therefore, the model has great value for the hybrid bus drivetrain model and can be the basis for the hybrid electric vehicle engine system and electrical system matching test and the evaluation for the fuel consumption. Besides, the drivetrain model built in this paper can be the prototype for the hybrid vehicle simulation software for the future research work.
