In the process of urbanization, with the increasing of building height and the pursuit of operational efficiency, the tower crane, which is widely used in the lifting operation in construction field, has been booming and gradually progressed. The demand of tower crane drivers also has new requirements. First of all, with the widely used of tower crane, more drivers are required; secondly, limited by large-scale, super height lifting and the out sight lifting operation, the lifting operation of driver need be more scientific. In the past, the tower crane drivers were trained usually hand by hand, which took more time but had little content. Limited by the fixed deficiency, traditional training can not meet the new requirements.There are some successful cases in foreign countries which a virtual system was built using the virtual reality technology, so that the goal of simulation for crane operations and training crane drivers was achieved. There are also some domestic institutes that get research on virtual simulation system for driving crane. However, the reality and the virtual scene are not fitted very well, the effect of visual immersion system is not good enough, and the contents and methods of theoretical training are not comprehensive and direct either.In this paper, we do more research on the prominent problems existing in domestic related research. The main research and contents are listed as below:Firstly, research on the reality of the entirely virtual scene. The uniformity of virtual scene and real scene is actualized by man-machine interacting method. According to the real operation environment, set the geography location, the model of construction and scene building, the type of tower cranes and the basic parameters like these manually; build the virtual scene as the real operation scene; and solve the problem about the reality of former virtual scene.Secondly, research on the immersibility of visual effect of virtual scene. The scene is divided as three layers based on the real visual effect of human being and with the method that combined the scenes far and near to simulate the distance in real scene and the precise visual effect.Thirdly, research on the immersibility of haptic effect of virtual scene. Analyze the force and displacement of tower body with analysis method and FEM. Taking TC6020tower crane for a specific finite element analysis case, we complete the theoretical study on the driven parameters of the motion platform’s. Fourthly, animate the assembling and disassembling process of tower cranes. The former theoretic standard training transforms into the form with the animation demonstration in3D, the scripts and audio explanation to be more direct, visual and comprehensive than the relevant visual simulation system.Finally, build up the virtual simulation system entirely. Take TC6020tower crane as concrete instance, the virtual simulation system is built up.
