The Study On Space Form Of Rural Settlements Landscapes In South Of The Five Ridges Area

The traditional rural settlements are the cultural essence. With the rapid development of economy of Pearl River Delta, South of the Five Ridges traditional settlements are facing a variety of threat,such as landscape space reduce continuously, river pollution and rural habitat empty-disusing. This paper studies traditional settlements landscape space form in Panyu of Guangdong. The purpose of the study is to excavate settlement space aesthetic meaning and space design methods.One the other hand,in order to inherit the cultural landscape in south of the Five Ridges area.And make a theoretical discussion for the traditional settlement about its development protection and utilization.Thinking about how to built the living environment base on sustainable development and regional characteristics.Meanwhile Daling village are going to reconstruction, hope the research can provide certain support.The research methods:(1) Field survey and mapping.(2) Hgure—ground method.(3) Series landscape analysis method.The research contents the overall spatial structure, space form, spatial relationship, spatial factors and spatial sequence.The reasearch results:(1)Daling village is situated at the foot of a hill and beside a stream. Its fringe landscape is made of farmland and ponds. It could be demarcated to four different areas based on its separated function. There are natural ecological area, village area, stream; agricultural production area.(2)The elements of space form in Daling village are bottom interface, side interface, top interface and spatial visual focus. Bottom interface includes stream、reservoirs、the steps and the ground pavement; Side interface refer to the elevation of architecture. Top interface includes sky and crown of trees. The spatial visual includes arcade, pond, tower, bridges and well.(3)Space form of village contains architectural space, traffic space, stream, entrance space, square space, green space and Shuikou Garden. Architecture is the main factor of the village. Residence and ancestral hall are two kinds of architecture in the village.(4)Ancestral temple and residence are two kinds of architecture in Daling village. There is a pedestrian street connects some alleys. The water space includes stream and ponds. The entrance space includes entrance to village, street, alley and residence. The square space includes square of ancestral temple and Qiaotou square. The green space includes road, road intersection, park, river bank. Shuikou garden is made of a tower, two bridges, a ancestral temple and old trees.(5)The elements composes sequence though stream, street and alley. There two kinds of special sequence in Daling village. They are sequence of entrance to a village and traffic sequence.Then it obtains the following conclusions:(1) Settlement form of Daling village is made of mountain, stream,village,farmland.(2)Daling village stretches out in concordance with the external ecological environment.(3) Daling village contains characteristics of the watery region settlement and neatly arranged traffic system. It is transitional settlement type.
