As one kind of reliable, economic and efficient energy, distributed generation (DG) has been attracting extensive concern at home and abroad recently. Most distribution systems are operated in a radial configuration. Installation of distributed generation not only alters the system topology, but also effects on power flow distribution and reliability evaluation algorithm. This paper firstly introduces fundamental theory of distribution reliability evaluation, and compares characteristics of different evaluation methods. Then, a hybrid method based on minimal path and sequential Monte Carlo is proposed. The influencing factors of distributed generation in reliability and islanding operation theory are discussed in this paper. Then, the author analyzes the modification of the hybrid method and the model of generated power. The islanding algorithm for distributed generators is presented on the basis. Finally, the paper puts forward detailed steps for reliability evaluation of distribution system containing distributed generations. The method can simulate actual situation of load and generators, but also takes reliability model of distributed generators into consideration. The feasibility and accuracy of the algorithm are shown by an example of an IEEE RBTS test system.
