Xinjiang is a low rainfall and dry region, Temperature difference between day andnight is large end economically backward. The adobe house because of its owncharacteristic that low costing, construction is convenient, Can be use local materialsand having good thermal insulation properties, still existing in a certain range. So, tofind out effective strengthening scheme for adobe houses and calculation method ofbearing capacity has important significance for safeguarding people’s life and propertysecurity, national cultural heritage and protecting ecological environment.Through the basic mechanical test, measured the compressive strength, tensilestrength and elastic modulus parallel and perpendicular to the grain, obtained theexperimental data of strain and deflection and provided a reference for the later finiteelement numerical analysis on wood beams and seismic behavior of wood column andbeam–adobe composite wall. Carried out the static bending tests on four rectangularwood beams, analyzed the bending behavior, failure mode and the relationship betweenload and deflection and strain of wood beams. At the same time, the bending strengthand elastic modulus are calculated. Got the deflection and stress-strain data by doingfinite element elasto-plastic analysis using ANSYS, and compared with the test results.The analysis results have a good agreement with the test results.In this paper investigated lateral bearing capacity of adobe walls、wooden frameand wood column and beam–adobe composite walls by doing bearing test, Studied oneffect of constraints on the wall. Results show that: Wooden frame improved theintegrity, ductility, lateral bearing capacity of the wall. Improved the lateral bearingcapacity90.8%, Improved the ductility121.2%, it proved that using wooden frameworkto reinforce the adobe wall is feasible and very effective.
