The Inspiration Of Perfect Harmony Spirit In Chinese Buddhism On The Modern Landscape Design

Buddhism has developed into a distinct religion through native culture adaptation and integration and had an impact on traditional Chinese philosophy, literature and art since it was introduced in China more than two thousand years ago. Cosmos and life are the basic concepts of Original Buddhism, pursuit of free human life and existence in the universe according to nature are its final destination, which are throughout Buddhist doctrine.China’s landscape has a long history and it is materialized esthetic mind and cultural sprit with concrete and distinct image, Landscape vividly presents the national spirit and cultural psychological characteristics under a certain specific space-time condition. It’s also a true reflection of ancient gardens of China. Chinese literati’s unique consciousness and pursuit of true nature are reflected in aesthetic sentiment of landscape. Since modern times, the advance of landscape went through a blank stage and reappeared in our view until the middle of the last century. At that time, environmental problems appeared with the development of industry, While the pace of people’s living was speeding up and life stress was increasing. Therefore, people’s demand of landscape was increasing. To design a landscape with harmony of human and nature intimacy and beauty is a key exploration for modern landscape architect.As a unique ideological culture, Chinese Buddhism’s spirit of unity teaches people to treat everything with undifferentiated attitude. In some ways,, it was close to modern landscape’s pursuit of hyper-utility、inner vision harmony of man with nature. So the Chinese Buddhism’s spirit of unity for human and nature has become the connection between unity and modern landscape design. The study aimed to trace the beginning and development of Buddhism, analyze the effect of localization of Buddhism in China, and explore the value of Chinese Buddhism’s spirit of unity on China’s classical garden. It also suggested the importance of spirit of unity on modern landscape design and brought forward the design principles. The values are as follows:(1) The value of applying harmonious perspective view of nature to Chinese modern landscape; (2) The value of applying harmonious perspective view of ecology to Chinese modern landscape;(3) The value of applying harmonious perspective view of aethstic to Chinese modern landscape;From the perspective of nature, ecology, aesthetic, this paper systematically discussed the influence of Chinese Buddhism’s spirit of unity in Chinese landscape, basides on analying the culture of Famen Temple scenic spot, further demonstration of the important guiding significance of Chinese Buddhism’s spirit of unity to Chinese landscape.
