Study On Architectural Decoration Of Chinese Buddhism Temple Gardens In Sichuan

Sichuan is one of the most important communication areas of Chinese Buddhism.The local temple garden and architecture are influenced deeply by the regional cultural characteristics of unique geographical environment and natural resources.There are numerous temple gardens located in Sichuan,which are preserved the most and representative in Sichuan classical gardens,and the historical value of these temple gardens is beyond doubt.Nevertheless,the architectural decoration of temple gardens has received a little attention from scholars.To improve the study of Sichuan classical garden system,the architectural decoration of Sichuan temple gardens need to be studied.Through some relevant documents and the investigation of the important Chinese Buddhism temple garden and architecture in Sichuan,This paper discusses the application of technological techniques and the decorative themes by analyzing and comparing the main architectural decoration components of Sichuan temple gardens to get a conclusion that the architectural decoration of Chinese Buddhism temple gardens in Sichuan has the characteristics of plain,exquisite workmanship,rich subject and free form.Based on this,these Chinese Buddhism temples in Sichuan will be compared with some other local temple architecture and Sichuan traditional folk dwelling in architectural decoration to get further understanding of the architectural decoration of Chinese Buddhism temple gardens in Sichuan.At the same time,there must be many problems of protection and reconstruction of classical gardens and buildings with the development of modern cities.The architectural decoration of these temple gardens not only has religious significance,but also has much high value of literature and art.We should protect and inherit the spiritual culture connotation of these classical gardens with proper preservation and reconstruction.The main conclusions of this study on architectural decoration of Chinese Buddhism temple gardens in Sichuan are as follows:1.The architectural decoration features a simple overall style without losing details.The typical Chinese Buddhism temple in Sichuan has a simple tone with no overpainted decoration,highlighting the original texture of materials but rich in details.2.Due to the historical origin of temple and folk dwelling,the architectural decoration of Chinese Buddhism temple gardens has almost the same decorative theme,technique,skill,components with traditional folk dwelling.The only differences between them are the Buddhist motif and color.3.The architecture of Chinese Buddhism temple gardens in Sichuan are numerous and diverse,in addition to the simple plain style of temple architecture,there are some the other style with the Chinese northern official architecture.This kind of temple architecture is generally associated with royal architecture in history,or get a different positioning in the later reconstruction.The overall style of this temple is more splendid and stately,usually with brackets and color painting under the roof.4.There was a period of Buddhism and Taoism in harmony in the development of Chinese history.It also reflects in the architectural decoration of Chinese Buddhism temple garden.Some Taoist symbols and characters can be found from the architectural decoration of these Buddhism temples.
