Along with the accelerating process of urbanization and the continuous adjustment of industrial structure, the number and scale of industrial wasteland within the urban areas are growing more and more. The existence of these industrial wasteland has not only resulted in wastage of resources, the destruction of the urban ecological landscape, but also restricting the orderly development of the city. As an important part of the urban development history, urban industrial wasteland not only has the precious historical value to dig, but also represents an urban cultural heritage which dire need to inherit, and its transformation has significant historical significance and practical value.On the basis of reading related literatures, this paper clarified the related concepts of the ecological restoration and landscape regeneration of urban industrial wasteland,and made detailed summary of the practical evolution of urban Industrial wasteland restoration,and comparatively analyzed the concept and technical approach of different stages of the urban industrial wasteland restoration,and thereby had a clearer understanding of the theory and practice of the urban industrial wasteland restoration.On this basis, with the emphasis of this article starting from the cultural perspective, the paper made beneficial explore of the transformation ideas and models of urban industrial wasteland in the new era, and proposed three different modes of transformation and the corresponding application. At last, taking the Xi’an Textile City Art District as an example, this paper researched the urban industrial wasteland restoration of China’s western areas by the case study,and proposed the relevant recommendations of technical support, government support and public participation.
