Earthquake is a kind of unavoidable natural disasters that brings huge loss tohuman, thus structural seismic design research has always been the focus ofattention. Near-fault ground motion is a form of ground motions that significantlydifferent from ordinary far-field earthquake, the effect caused on structures is alsoquite different. Seismic isolation technology is a vibration reduction theoryemerging in recent years, which can effectively reduce the earthquake damage. This paper will combine the two aspects together to study at the dynamic responseof base-isolated structure under near-fault ground motion. In this paper, traditional anti-seismic structure and base isolated structuremodel with the same superstructure design were established using the SAP2000software. Through the nonlinear time-history analysis, the isolating affection of thetraditional seismic structure and isolation structure was compared, as well as theresponse of base-isolated structure under the far-field grounds motion andnear-fault ground motions. In addition, the parametric analysis of near-fault groundmotions is conducted. Through the results of correlation analysis of severalearthquake parameters and response parameters of structure, the earthquakeparameters that made more significant impact on structure response were pointedout and so as to determine the parameters which can better represent the destructiveeffects of near fault ground motions. The result of this study provides theoretical basis for the hazard analysis ofnear-fault ground motion and the feasibility of seismic isolation structurepopularizing. It also provides certain reference value for the structure designmethod that consider the near-fault ground motions.
