In steel structures, roof panel and wall panel, which usually are used as maintenancestructures, could resist shear force, improve load bearing of structure and the displacement asdiaphragms structures if there exists reliable connections between the diaphragms and theboundary members. Base on previous study, such as experimental research, finite elementtheory research and simplified design calculation method which is suitable to practicalapplication, the main work can be summarized in this paper as follows:Firstly, based on the known study result, a series of diaphragms structure models arebuilt, which consists of different panel dimensions, different thickness plates and differentconnecting ways of the boundary members. By using finite element analysis, it is verified thatthe buckling will occur firstly along diagonal line direction of diaphragm under in-plane shear.Meanwhile, through plates buckling theory, the ratio of the average stiffness after thebuckling along diagonal line direction of diaphragm divided by the initial stiffness is obtained,which can be used as the utilization ratio of panel stiffness in actual engineering;Secondly, based on the theory of steel flat plate under in-plane shear, this paper analysesthe buckling behavior and forced state of the plate under pure shear. In addition, taking thecommon profiled steel sheet in China for example, this paper introduces the method of howprofiled steel sheet transform to equivalent orthotropic thin plate;Lastly, a single-deck lightweight steel workshop is designed, and steel sheets are usedonly in gable walls and roof in the model. The utilization ratio of panel stiffness mentionedabove is taken into the structure calculation model to calculate, and then compares thecalculation results of the different structures considered stressed skin diaphragm or not. andthe analysis results show that structural displacement is effectively controlled, the structuraldeformation is more compatible and the structure loading is reasonable.Through three aspects of work above, this paper comprehensively analyzes the forcedstate and the deformation of diaphragms structure under in-plane shear, and how to effectivelyutilize stressed skin diaphragm in structure calculation is also introduced. This paper obtainssome valuable conclusions for practical design.
