The thesis designed the pulse combustor and researched its combustion characteristics of pulsating combustion for biomass fuels based on the test platform of Rijke-ZT self-oscillating pulse combustion. The paper mainly included the four parts as following:(1) It reviewed the references of progress and application on pulsating combustion technology at home and abroad, analyzed the characteristics of combustion both biomass fuels and pulsating combustion, a concept for combining the two technologies was brought.(2) The combustion characteristics of several biomasses were tested, the result showed that the combustion characterics of compressed material are superior to the raw biomass. The trend of TG curves and DTG curve of biomass combustion is basically the same. With lower ignition point, but compared to the raw biomass, the weight loss rate of the compressed material increased by2.3times, the ignition point decreased by8℃12℃, the maximum combustion efficiency, combustion stability index, volatile analysis index and integrated burning index were increased by2to3times,1.7to2.6times,1.6to3.5times and11to12.87times respectively. The experiments show that the combustion characteristics of maize straw are better than sawdust, the combustion index of rice husk are the lowest.(3) A pulse combustion test system based on LabVIEW was constructed. It designed data acquisition card, sensors, hardware, program design, front panel, the rear block diagram panel, which focused on solving ripple、noise filtering、smoothing and calibration for temperature sensors when data analysis.(4) Experimental analysis of biomass fuel types, particle size, air/fuel ratio, the total height parameters affect the relationship of the sound pressure, frequency, temperature, and exhaust components of the pulse combustion. The acoustic intensity and sound level of compressed biomass fuel are higher than its original biomass fuels, but the liner wall temperature, acoustic intensity and the pressure amplitude are lowered50℃, lOdB and4kPa compared to the bituminous coal respectively. The influence ofΦ6mm is bigger than Φ8mm on granularity, the granularity is smaller, material combustion is fuller, the wall temperature outside the liner is higher. When the excess air ratio is1.01, exhaust emission’s CO and NOx density is lowest, the pressure amplitude is higher; When the height of biomass pulsating combustor is2200mm, CO and NOx density of exhaust emission of tail tube is lowest, but the pressure amplitude is biggest.
