The fluid in the valve cavity would result in steady hydrodynamic force while flowing. The research of steady hydrodynamic force could reduce its negative effects, and it issignificantly important both for improving the valve performances and design.Based on consulting on abundant domestic and abroad documents, this paper generalizedtwo methods to figure out steady hydrodynamic force, the momentum theorem method andcomputational fluid mechanics method. This paper chose the latter one. This paper regarded the slide valve spool, the inner cavity of valve pocket as theresearching objects, and applied GAMBIT software to build the three-dimensional model of thevalve cavity and meshed it. And used finite element method to discrete the model intotetrahedron and hexahedron grid. The simulation composed of constant pressure drop andconstant flow two working conditions, which corresponding to the border condition is pressureinlet, outlet and velocity inlet and pressure outlet. According to the computation of Reynoldsparameters, the results showed that the flow condition is turbulent flow. Using Fluent softwareto simulated and analyzed the inner cavity flow field of different opening size on the conditionof constant pressure drop and constant flow, iteration and restrain, the paper ascertained thepressure, velocity outline of the symmetry and pressure profile of spool shoulder, and figuredout the the steady hydrodynamic force on the spool in different valve port opening size. The simulation got the relationship between steady hydrodynamic force and the portopening size on the condition of constant pressure drop and constant flow. It also madecomparison between the two different border conditions, and used the momentum theorem tofigure out the steady hydrodynamic force, which demonstrated the same trendy. All of thesework proved that the direction of using computational fluid mechanics to study the steadyhydrodynamic force is correct.
