Regenerative braking is an important mode of hybrid electric bus,HEB use the ISGmotor recycling the energy that wasted in the braking to achieve the full usage of energy. Thesafety of barking can be ensured with a good regenerative braking control strategy whichcoordinated electric braking system and the the fricition braking system. This article analysedthe regenerative braking control strategy which suitable for the12m hybrid electric city bus,and the main innovation and work are as follows:1) Analysed the structural features and the operation characteristics of HEB,constructed the vehicle dynamics model with Cruise software.2) Modified the prototype bus, achieved the brake pressure’s secondary regulation withinstalling a regulator valve on the rear axle. Designed a strategy that can guarantee the enoughbraking force and maximum recovery braking energy, and optimized it with the fuzzy PIDcontrol algorithm and the dynamic coordination. Results of co-simulation platform tests showthat the strategy allows coaches to complete the3s velocity100km/h to stop, and the cyclecondition achieved16%of braking energy recovery.3) Built a on-board RCP(rapid control prototyping) semi-physical simulation platform, and designed9different conditions of brake tests in the loop simulation to do the functionalverification of regenerative braking strategy. The result shows that the regenerative brakingstrategy has a good braking performance and accurate control of the recovery performanceunder various working conditions, braking time no more than3s when common intensity.
