Laterally loaded pile,mainly under horizontal load,is widely used in brridge building,port engineering,offshore engineering,slope engineering,excavation engineering etx.So far,many research agencies and learners have done a lot of efforts on the calculations of displacement and inner force of laterally loaded pile,and they have got many achievements.Nowadays mainly used methods of calculations of displacements and inner force of laterally loaded pile are theoretical formulas,numerical computation method and experimental method etc.Theoretical formulas includes limit subgrade reaction methods,foundation reaction force method and elastic theory method etc. Numerical computation method includes finite difference method, finite element method and boundary element method. And experimental method includes simulating test in laboratory and field test. This paper will summarize and analysis these existing methods and,what’s more,will put forward a new calculating method.After a lot of reading the author finds that there are still some problems in the calculations methods of laterally loaded pile,as follows.The existing calculation methods of laterally loaded pile are mainly about piles which are under force in the head of pile.However, most laterally loaded piles are not just under force in the head of pile,but also around the body.Some calculations methods have considered the force around, however, they always calculate the under force part and anchoring part separatelly.In hence, the results, especially the displacement of the under force part are more than measured value.The analytical solution of the piles under force around has been worked out,however, it’s too complicated to be used in designs and calculations,especially when the acting form of the load is that simple.Owing to all above cause, the thesis has done the following researches:1. Summarizing the achievements that have been finished in the calculation of the laterally loaded pile.2.Introducing the basic theory of finite difference method,and putting forward a new calculating method of laterally loaded pile based on two-parameter method and "m" method under finite difference method.3.Putting forward a new elastic-plastic model for soil distributing around the pile, and then calculating the laterally loaded pile under this model.4.Analysis on project examples show that the computation method presented in this thesis is reliable, and what’s more, much easier to be used on real project examples.
