| Water resources has been treated not only an important natural resource, but alsoa strategic resource nowaday, as same important as energy resources. At present,China is facing a serious of water resources problems, mainly in three aspects. First,with the development of demographic, economic and social, the demand of waterresources has increasing rapidly. Second, the lack of water resources, resulting fromwater pollution, is also increasingly common phenomenon. Third, the fact that climatechange is becoming an unavoidable choice. A variety of uncertain factors from theunevenness of water resources will bring more and more serious challenges for waterresources management. Thus, in the next long period of time, waster resources willhave been the main limiting factor for economic development.Based on the commonalities of water resources and energy resources, a series oftheories, such as Environmental Kuznetz Curve, IPAT Model, Kaya Model and LMDIdecomposition analysis method, have been analyzed. These theories have been usedwidely under energy and carbon emission research. Undering literature review andanalysis theoretical analysis, the model and usage in water resource research ofmentioned theroies have benn established.A case study, the water resources utilization in Hunan Province, has beenanalyzed. There aspects have been focused:(1) the stage of water resources utilizationassociated with economical development;(2) the effect of population, economy andtechonoly factors for water resource usage;(3) based on LMDI method, quantitativeexamination of water intensity, economic structure, economic level, population havebeen calculated. From the case study, the usability of this model and method havebeen proved, and the result from analysis can be a useful guidance for water resourceutilization and economic development in Hunan Province. |
