As new energy vehicles are of great significance in solving the environmental pollution and the energy crisis, which attracts more and more people’s attention Because of its free from contamination and zero emission, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles which become a research hot in the field of electric vehicle overcome the defect of short trip range of mileage of the pure electric vehicle. At the same time, hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is friendly to the environment and has high energy conversion efficiency, which the internal combustion engine car is not incomparable. Besides the fuel cell car still keep the performance of accelerating, high speed, long distance, safety and comfortable. So it is necessary to research the powertrain of hydrogen fuel cell cars. This thesis focuses on designing, modeling, simulation and parameter optimization of powertrain of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.Firstly, the five powertrains of the hydrogen fuel cell vehicles as well as two energy control strategies were studied. Through analyzing and comparing the disadvantages and advantages of the powertrains and control strategies, the fuel cell and the battery are selected as the source of energy for driving the vehicle and select power follower is chosen as the control strategy. In this thesis the powertrain of the modified hydrogen fuel cell vehicle was redesigned and the overall layout of the vehicle power system and related parts placement were determined.Secondly, the working principles of fuel cell, battery and the driving motor are studied in this thesis. And finally the low-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell is selected as the active power source of the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle and lithium-ion battery as the auxiliary power source, besides the asynchronous AC motor is selected as the driving motor. According to design specifications of the vehicle performance and vehicle performance parameters, we use the relevant theoretical knowledge to determine the parameters of power system components.Then, on the basis of powertrain layout program and the parameters of the related components, powertrain components as well as vehicle are modeled in this thesis in the use of MATLAB/SIMULINK. And combining with China’s urban conditions and UDDS typical urban conditions, this thesis simulates the vehicle using the software of ADVISOR. The result shows that the performance, fuel economy and 100km acceleration time of the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle are much higher than the set performance index, which indicates that the selection of power system parameters and the control strategy are appropriate for the vehicle. At the same time we set up multi-cycle test conditions to test running conditions of powertrain components, test results show that the power system components are running well.Finally, this thesis optimizes the parameters of the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle power system components with the optimized software belonged to ADVISOR. The optimization result is that output power of the hydrogen fuel cell and driving motor are greatly reduced, which reduces the cost of the vehicle and provide more room for other parts of the vehicle. Comparing the simulation results of the optimized vehicle in the China’s urban conditions with the theoretical designed simulation results shows that after optimization of the powertrain the vehicle can completely satisfy the performance index and make the power system components work in the high efficient area in order to reduce hydrogen fuel consumption.
