With the increasing environmental problems, a lot of strict emission regulations have been established in many countries. As an effective mean to resolve this issue, hybrid vehicles have a great development in domestic and abroad market during these years. World renowned automobile companies, such as Toyota, Honda and General Motors, are making research and development of hybrid vehicle. In addition, passage car companies and engine companies have new hybrid passenger cars to release. In the domestic, hybrid bus is becoming the hot topic in the passenger cars market due to the concept of energy conservation and emission reduction as well as the great supports of the governments. Many hybrid buses, which meet the china market, are released or ongoing in the research and development phrase by Dongfeng, Yutong automobile companies and Yuchai, Weichai, Cummins engine companies.For the requirement of the urban bus, this thesis has put forward a hybrid bus based on Electric-drive Mechanical Transmission(EMT) and makes the matching calculation and specification for engine, motor, battery pack, transmission, high voltage management system and vehicle control system.Power coupling device is the key to the hybrid system, which takes charge of the coupling of the multiple sources of power. Following the control strategy, power coupling device is responsible for distributing the requirement of the power from the vehicle to sources of power to make sure the power component work efficiently.This thesis makes detailed analysis of the clutch and transmission of the EMT hybrid system, including theory, component specification, mechanical structure and control principle. The clutch system is designed to be an integration of the clutch housing and motor input housing and controlled by the vehicle control model based on the sensors. The active speed-regulation synchronization of the motor is to make the shift of the transmission smoothly and the motor can drive the vehicle till the clutch engages to avoid the time of the power interruption.The clutch system is for the power coupling of the engine and motor and the operation mechanism consists of solenoid valves and pneumatic devices which uses the vehicle air supply. The clutch engagement can work stably via these devices as well as the motor active speed-regulation. By the torque distribution and speed-regulation strategy, the power coupling device can make sure the EMT system shift smoothly between different work conditions.Combined with clutch engagement mechanic and vehicle dynamic, this thesis makes detailed analysis of the clutch engagement and related torque and validates the effectiveness of the power coupling device via ADAMS simulation and system test.
