With the development of national economy and the transport industry, the truck of large power and large carrying capacity is applied more and more widely, and vehicle speed is also rising. So safety becomes increasingly important and braking performance is one of the main performances of automobile. ABS has become one of the world recognized effective measure that can significantly improve vehicle safety performance. In the process of braking, ABS controls wheel brake torque to prevent wheel lock, and it is important to improve the automobile braking direction stability and steering control, to improve the car’s braking efficiency, to ensure the safety of the driver and passengers. In this paper, domestic and foreign development situation of ABS and in the application of multi axle vehicle are elaborated, ABS theory was analyzed systematically:basic principle of ABS、composition of ABS、ABS channel control mode、channel basic form and the effect of ABS channel control mode、channel basic form on braking performance. In addition, ABS basic layout schemes are initially identified. The anti-lock braking system based on multi-body dynamic and control theory is studied. Multi-body vehicle dynamic model is built in ADAMS/Car and suspension system, tire model, braking system, engine system, steer system, vehicle frame and vehicle body are included. In addition, the non-linear characteristics of tire, bushing, spring and damper is considered. Based on the topological relations between various systems, the whole vehicle virtual prototype model is combined in the ADAMS/Car. ABS control model that based on logic threshold control was established in Matlab/Simulink, and the two models are integrated and co-simulated by the interface of ADAMS/Control. According to the national standard GBT13594-2003, simulation conditions are determined and straight line braking simulation test on high、low coefficient road were respectively conducted. The result of simulation is compared with no-ABS control values. The analysis results show that ABS device can shorten the braking distance、make full use of adhesion coefficient utilization and improve the braking performance and lateral stability. The conclusions are obtained for specific models, which has the actual meaning, the result of the paper confirm the value and significance of research.
