Wind power, as the most potential renewable energy, has been developing rapidlyin recent years. China is a country with rich resources of wind energy. Since thereform and opening, the relevant technology of wind power industry in our countryhas experienced rapid development and its commercial application has made asignificant breakthrough with the substantial support of the Communist Party ofChina (CPC) and the government. Plenty of wind power plants have been rapidlyestablished, improved and put into power operation in those areas with rich resourcesof wind energy for more than30years. Therefore, local residents have been providedfor clean electric energy.China’s wind power development is gradually forming the scale. However, at thesame time, some problems which are brought about by wind power grid integrationare been exposed. That’s due to the fact that, compared with the rapid developmentspeed of wind power, the research on wind power technology still relatively lagsbehind. The uncertainty of wind power makes power balance and power arrangementa challenge. Besides, with the increasing of wind power capacity, these problems willbe more and more severe. The important restriction factor for large-scale wind powergrid integration is that, the load performance that power grid can provide for windpower has to make use of the load performance and the frequency adjustment abilityof the entire grid for unified balance. So, the full receiving of wind power and the safeand stable peration of power grid can be guaranteed. When the power of wind powerincreases, the routine units will reduce output to provide space for wind power.Because of the uncertainty of the power of wind power, the margin of the peak-loadshaving of the system must be greater than the power of wind power integration of thegrid. In addition, wind power has great impact on the transient state stability, voltagestability, frequency stability, dynamic stability, power quality and secondary systemof electrical power system.This thesis is written on this background. The author puts forward wind-poweredpumped storage station which can improve wind power by the use of the hydraulicenergy storage. The research content and results of the study are as follows:(1) Firstly, the basic principle of the wind power generation which is related towind-powered pumped storage station as well as the basic theory of pumped-storagepower station are introduced in detail. The thesis lays stress on the effect which windpower grid integration may have on the grid and the dynamic benefit evaluationmethod of pumped storage power station. (2) Secondly, on the basis of the introduction of the principal theories, the authorexplains the six basic operation modes of wind-powered pumped storage station.Furthermore, the procedures of how to choose the operation modes and the equationof basic benefits are also given.(3) Thirdly, on the basis of the explanation of the basic operation modes ofwind-powered pumped storage station, the author constructs a mathematic model forthe two practical operation schemes of wind-powered pumped storage station anddoes some analysis. In addition, the two operation schemes are simulated underMATLAB.(4) Fourthly, the author does the static and dynamic economic analysis for thesimulative small grid of wind-powered pumped storage station with simulation rununder MATLAB. The author also draws the electricity price comparison chart ofpumping capacity change of pumped storage power station and Time-of-use (TOU) aswell as the electricity price comparison chart of power generation capacity change ofpumped storage power station and Time-of-use (TOU).(5) Fifthly, the environmental benefit of wind-powered pumped storage station isevaluated. The conclusion is that the application of wind-powered pumped storagestation can reduce325.74tons of CO2emissions and964.19kg SO2emissions per day.In short, wind-powered pumped storage station has good environmental benefits.
