With the quickly development of national economy and the continuously increase of capacity in countrywide electric power system, it is an urgent problem of electric yield to meet with the increasing peak-shaving capacity and the increasing requirement of electric quality. Pumped-storage power station can substitute thermal plants to take on the task of peak-shaving, peak-climbing, accident-stocking and load-stocking in the electric system, and it will greatly improve the running state of every electrical machine in the electric system by its construction and could get better economic benefit. The economic benefit of Pumped-storage power station may directly influence its economic rationality and expanding scale, thus it is necessary to discuss the calculation of economic benefit of Pumped-storage power station.The economic benefit of Pumped-storage power station includes static benefit and dynamic benefit. Static benefit consists of capacity benefit and peak-shaving benefit, while dynamic benefit consists of peak-climbing benefit, accident-stocking benefit and load-stocking benefit. On the basis of referring abundant information and existent research achievement, this paper adopts the method of Probabilistic production simulation to simulate electric system and analyzes calculating method and process of various benefits of Pumped-storage power station generally and detailedly. Meanwhile, put forward the principle and method to combine small electrical machines when there are too many electrical machines, and it can greatly improve the calculation speed of probabilistic simulation by this way. Then analyze and calculate the economic benefit of Xianyou Pumped-storage power station in Fujian electric power system, and it can provide scientific accordance for the exploiting decision of Xianyou Pumped-storage power station.
