The centrifugal compressor as a core device are widely used in oil andgas, large-scale coal chemical as well as the deep-sea oil and gas exploitationand so on. The centrifugal compressor performance directly affects thereliability and the economic benefits of the device. At this stage with the rapiddevelopment of economy, environmental degradation, resource consumptionand other problems become more serious. So how to keep the compressorstable and efficient operation, to improve the design and operating efficiencyand Self-recovery ability, broaden the range of operating conditions are widelyconcerned. The paper investigated the above difficult problem using numericalanalysis methods to develop efficient and accurate computational model.Firstly, the inlet guide vanes and the impeller unsteady coherent phenomenonof centrifugal compressor was Studied by using unsteady numerical simulationmethod. Analysis the effect of this phenomenon on the structural strength ofimpeller. The analytical results showed the gas excitation power is the mainreason to cause the fracture failure of the impeller blades.Secondly, The paper discusses a computational fluid dynamics (CFD)study done to assess the influence of shroud curvature on impellerperformance. Aerodynamic, mechanical and vibration modal analysis resultsare presented for four impellers of varying cover curvature and axial length. The analytical results showed there are clear aerodynamic and mechanicalbenefits to decreasing the curvature along the impeller shroud but thesebenefits must be weighed against the impact on the rotordynamic considerations.Lastly, The paper investigated the performance optimization of centrifugalcompressor using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique.,a fullthree-dimensional flow field analysis method was used to analyze the effect ofthe impeller、 diffuser and return vane on preformance of centrifugalcompressor and the main parameters of which was also optimized. The resultsshow that adjustable diffuser vanes can improve the efficiency of compressorand obtain much wider operating range. For this model of the compressor, theefficiency can be increased more than2%.The optimal compressor providegreat increase in aerodynamic performance. The research results can providean effective method for improve the design efficiency、 the operating rangeand Self-recovery and Regulation of the compressor.
